Transparent Background

Startup icon with transparent Background

I am a new user. I am simply trying to create an icon with a transparent background like the one associated with this program "RealWorld Icon Editor". Can someone direct me please?

Each pixel in an every image inside an .ico file has a color and a transparency level. There are multiple ways how to make background transparent and all depends on how you are creating the icons.
