Cursor Editor ProblemA RealWorld Cursor Editor Bug
2006-08-02Author: <unknown> Hi. I downloaded the editor for my son a few days ago. Things seemed to be going great until for some reason, whenever we try to create a new cursor with 'New Static Cursor' the editor opens and the entire editor is blank, just grey with no tools, no toolbars or anything, just the titlebar that says 'RealWorld Cursor Editor'. I uninstalled, rebooted, reinstalled, and it worked once until after I opened the create animated cursor window. Then when I went back to create or open a static cursor, it was back to a blank RealWorld Cursor Editor window. Doesn't work even if I try to open any of the cursors delivered with the software. Any suggestions? I want to make a donation, but if I can't get the software to work my son will be disappointed. Help will be appreciated. Thanks.

2006-08-02Author: Vlasta One possible reason for this behavior is damaged configuration. To fix the configuration, shut down the application and either delete registry key HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\RealWorld\CursorEditor\Designer or run the application with /reset switch (-> "C:\Program Files\RealWorld Cursor Editor\RWCursorEditor.exe" /reset).
Please let me know if that helped or not. Such errorneous behavior may also be caused be an unexpected conflict with other software. Do you have any software that modifies look or functionality of all windows?

2006-08-03Author: paulc1478 Hi, Thank you! The reset switch resolved the problem. After running the reset switch, I worked with the cursor editor for a while, opening and closing different files, and creating new files, and everything seemed to be working fine. I couldn't get the problem to happen again. We do not have any software that modifes the look or functionality of Windows.
I was wondering if any graphic commands or settings used in the cursor editor might have caused a problem when a file was saved. Then when the editor tried to open any more files it read something it didn't like.
Thanks again for your help, and for your quick reply My son is happy the editor is working again.

2006-08-03Author: Vlasta I am glad it was just this and nothing more serious.
The commands Tools->Layout Management and Tools->Configure Layout allow you to modify the built-in window layouts or create your own. A layout controls menu, toolbars and of course the windows you see on the screen. Changing values in the configuration dialogs can make the layouts unusable. Another cause might be a bug in the application (as always).

2006-08-10Author: <unknown> Hello, i downloaded RealWorld cursor editor, it all went fine for 3 days, until when i wanted to make a new animated cursor, it came up with a grey box. all the toolbars, but no editing feild. similar to the other person who has the problem with static cursors? can i do anything, or is it ment to do that?
2006-08-10Author: Vlasta ;-) no, it is meant to work without problems. Try the same fix that is described above. Please let me know if it helped or not. Did you try to modify the GUI layouts before the problem occured?
2006-08-10Author: <unknown> No, Ive tried the advice above, it dosent work, ive tried uninstalling it then reinstalling 2 times, im out of options
2006-08-10Author: Vlasta Did you try to delete the items in registry ? HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\RealWorld\CursorEditor\Designer
please send a screenshot to info@rw-designer.com
2006-08-10Author: <unknown> what do you mean HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\RealWorld\CursorEditor\Designer?
2006-08-10Author: Vlasta That is the registry key to delete, but if you do not know how to delete it in regedit.exe, then please don't, it could be dangerous. Are you sure you have used the /reset switch correctly?
2006-08-10Author: <unknown> Now i know what you mean. Thank You. i will try it.

2006-10-29Author: Vlasta If you have installed the Cursor Editor to the default directory and you have English version of Windows, then go to start menu, click on Run and type the following string (including the quotes) and hit Enter.
"C:\Program Files\RealWorld Cursor Editor\RWCursorEditor.exe" /reset

2006-10-29Author: Vlasta There actually was a problem with the image to cursor conversion if the dimensions of the created cursor were non-square. Maybe that was the problem before. It will be fixed in next version.

2007-08-18Author: <unknown> I am ten, and I am an expert with editing cursors, web designing, etc. but then...
3 days later Static or Animated doesn't work. What do I do? What's a reset switch? AHHH! Please help! My dad or mom can't help.
2007-08-18Author: Vlasta Click on "Start", then "Run" and type the following in the box (including double quotes):
"C:\Program Files\RealWorld Cursor Editor\RWCursorEditor.exe" /reset
and press Enter
2007-08-31Author: <unknown> I can only edit Static Cursors, except for ONE animated cursor called python-wait.ani. I tried resetting it and everything. I have NO idea on what's going on. Help!!!
2007-08-31Author: Vlasta If it is just on cursor, please send it to info@rw-designer.com and I will check what's wrong.
2007-10-07Author: <unknown> Hey Vlasta,
Same things were happening to me; I couldn't open up any of my cursors and I couldn't make any new ones because there was no editing window. So I read up on your Forum and typed in "C:\Program Files\RealWorld Cursor Editor\RWCursorEditor.exe" /reset. The first time it worked, but it's done it again. I typed it in again, but this time it didn't work. What should I do now?
2007-10-07Author: Vlasta Make sure that the application is not running while you run the command.
Or just wait until next Sunday when new version is released and this problem will be hopefully gone forever.

2008-04-08Author: <unknown> Hi, can anyone tell me why my cursor has a dash in it. It almost looks like an F. I have no idea why this is. It is only supposed to look like an I.
2008-07-16Author: benjy2429 When will you bring out a new version of your cursor editor because i think everyone is having this problem and it keeps coming back whatever i do. Please help!
2008-07-17Author: Vlasta The problem was significantly reduced in the version from winter of 2007. If it still happens, run the manager from the RealWorld->More->Manage Cursor Editor from Start menu and click the Reset Configuration button.
2008-07-17Author: benjy2429 Ive tried that reset button before and it still doesn't work right. I can't make animated cursors because it freezes and goes grey and when you use it a lot, it just shuts itself down and you have to restart the computer to get it to work again. I love this program, I just wished it worked right...
2008-07-17Author: Vlasta Hm, if the resetting does not help, there may be other problem on your computer. Could you send me some screenshots and detailed description of what did you do after resetting?
