Fuck the World by Badflower (Microsoft is evil)

Published by on November 1st.

My Windows 11 IoT Enterprise LTSC 2024 installation recently died, and thought of the FULU Organization in my head when trying to troubleshoot.

I finally decided to break free from the glory days of Windows, and move on to Linux. I will use some sort of Windows environment and Nvidia drivers for Linux to play the latest indie games and old stuff.

I am now a Linux Mint user.

Microsoft has pulled the last straw on me, because Windows 10 has been discontinued by normal consumer means; even worse, they don't advertise the LTSC versions to the public, even though it's perfectly legal to do so. They don't care about their customers, they don't offer par tech support to users on the Microsoft communities (the old sfc command), and they heavily advertise Copilot on TV, YouTube and various media. (I won't forget the Friend necklace's smorgasbord of ads plastered all over New York City!) They don't give a flying fuck about their employees either, with massive layoffs, and a push for AI to rule out humans in the job market.

Hell, I can't even get a goddamn job in America. What's with the job market anyways? I apply for fucking grocery stores and they reject my application; they don't even tell you why you get rejected. I apply for fucking retail and they reject my application. And don't get me started on people using AI to tell users about their reject, or even an automated rejection system! Over the course of 5 years, only 3 out of the ~40 jobs I applied for were accepted, and those jobs weren't even good! They cut my hours down, and make me quit, in search of a job that has flexible hours.

Even though I am aware of Windows 10 IoT Enterprise LTSC 2021, I'm just fucking done with Windows alltogether.

So I ask you for one job: Follow the FULU Organization and Louis Rossmann's path to accepting freedom, ownership, and privacy by switching to Linux Mint or Debian, and using a Windows environment to do your Windows stuff with.

I also ask you to donate to me, as I cannot get a job with disabilities, and I keep getting denied by Social Security to get SSI, and also for Food Stamps (I'm trying to get these benefits with a Social Security lawyer). Here is my PayPal donation link:

Have a great day.

Welcome to the world of Linux mint! I’ve been a mint user for nearly a year and a half now, and I don’t see myself going back to windows as a main driver. Good to see people putting light on these problems, it really does suck.

Thanks! I'm glad I'm not alone on the Linux Mint situation. I'm enjoying it so far! 😊 - by nibbler on November 2nd
Also, tell me how you run RW Graphics on your machine! - by nibbler on November 2nd
I use a program called [winehq.org Wine], that allows windows programs to run in linux. It doesnt use emulation, so it's not so hard on memory. - by Animelove_1105 on November 2nd

The RWG experince on Wine isn't too bad for me, I've tried the cursor editor on it and it runs generally well. - by Animelove_1105 on November 2nd
All the cursor creation stuff works, but it does have bugs. A main one I encounter is the welcome screen bootlooping when it's opened in a new window (like when you click "open" on the creation page) - by Animelove_1105 on November 2nd
Someone suggested me to use Proton for any games. Should I download both? - by nibbler on November 2nd
I haven’t tried proton yet, but I suppose you can install and try both. Proton does run a modified version if wine with some extra stuff as well, which makes it more suitable for gaming. - by Animelove_1105 on November 2nd

I’m so proud of you! I’ve been wanting to make the switch to Linux for years, and I’ll likely get around to it very soon now that Windows 10 is discontinued, as Windows 11 feels like a great big poster child for enshittification.

I agree! - by nibbler on November 2nd

You should be able to set up a donation link on your account page on the "Support me" line. As of now, it is only shown on icon assembler pages and is work in progress, but it may eventually be shown in more places.

That's good to know. Currently, I don't have access to add my donation link but hopefully I can. - by nibbler on November 2nd

I suppose it always nice to try out new operating systems and learn how to use them for the first time.
Windows 11 does have some negatives compared to Windows 10 like stricter hardware requirements.
It was inevitable that Microsoft would cut support for Windows 10 at some point.
I wish you good luck with getting donations though.

Thanks, man. I do plan on trying to get into the Linux ecosystem more, and learn how to work with Python and other things more often. - by nibbler on November 2nd
I might try Mac OS when I have a job in order to buy a Mac Mini - by nibbler on November 3rd
Yeah, the Mac Mini is usually the cheapest although I would recommend getting an Apple Silicon Mac Mini. - by The Male Boss on November 5th
Since Intel Mac Minis no longer receive the latest update, Mac OS Tahoe. - by The Male Boss on November 5th
Worth also mentioning Mac OS Tahoe is the final release for Intel Macs altogether. - by The Male Boss on November 5th
My plan was to go for a Silicon Mac, since I can run iOS apps and IPA files natively on that system. Right now, I'm still unemployed, so I'll have to wait. - by nibbler on November 5th
