Alright folks, time to let you in on something I've been quietly building while everyone thought I was "just lost in the VR." Starting today, I'm launching a brand-new section on the site called Adventures - a place where you can play classic text adventures, brought into the modern age.
Don't worry, the old-school charm is still there. You can absolutely play using the keyboard, typing commands like a proper adventurer. But here's the upgrade: adventures can also include clickable actions. Moving between rooms, picking up items, using objects, all that can be done with the mouse if the author chooses to support it. Some folks like typing, some like clicking, and some mix both. That choice is part of the design, and it's up to each adventure's creator how friendly or demanding they want to be.
Adventures can also use images, sound effects, and music to set the mood (even per room) so a dungeon can feel dark and echoing, while a forest feels calm (or suspiciously calm). And before you ask: yes, the full adventures are free to play from start to finish.
Now, for the serious adventurers among ye, I've added two new items to my shop - both paid in good, honest buttons.
Right now, there's just one introductory adventure available: Old Castle Treasure Hunt. It's a short quest with 9 rooms, fully playable by clicking alone - but listen close now - a few secrets can only be uncovered by typing the right command. That's the recommended way to play all adventures: click when you like, type when you dare.
As for creating your own adventures: the editor isn't quite ready yet, but it's coming. For those eager to tinker, there will be a data format specification available shortly (posted in my new group), though my advice is simple: sketch your rooms, plan your puzzles, and be ready when the full editor lands.
That's all for now. A whole new section, a whole new way to play, not bad for a lad who wanders all day through the Arcade. And if Scunkie's reading this: while you're busy tweaking name colors, I've gone and added an entire new world to explore. No hard feelings, mate. 😄
Game on and adventure awaits.
