Why can't I use my bag of buttons?

to use them, just go to scunkies stand in the people section user

I have a bag of 5 buttons, when I use it, it asks me to split it. when they're split, it asks me to combine them. it's a never ending loop.

you can buy something with your buttons over here that is skunkies sand where u buy stuff...
