Where have I been???

iiiiiiiiiiit's time for my first blog post! hello RW designer, i am the user who was formally known as "SoaringEagle789", and i want to talk about where i've been since using this platform last

since i last used the site back in 2016, i went to art school and got my bachelor's degree in studio arts. i am now a freelance animator who specializes in music videos! the pay's pretty good, clients can be inconsistent, but hey, that's just part of the business

so what made me want to come back? well, it all started around last summer, where the torrent of AI slop (ugh, my worst enemy!) drove me to stay away from the "modern web" (AKA the same 6 social media apps on everyone's phones) and check out the "indie web". those personalized HTML-coded sites hosted on neocities, and all the niche forum boards still going strong to this day. my favorite of these sites is the frutiger aero archive, and it included links to cursor sets based on vocaloid characters. and now, here we are 😁

it feels weird looking back at MY own cursor and icon sets. sure, my thanksgiving cursors were pretty good, and i am quite proud of the pixel art. but wow, i can't believe you all let me get away with making cursors and icons based on random GIFs i found around the internet :S i didn't even make those images myself! but hey, all artists have to start somewhere, right?

i'm definitely going to make a new cursor set someday, made of my own art. and i already have an idea on what it should be. look forward to it! it's good to be back
