at 16x16 and 24x24 they got impossible to read so i made them different.

sixλxis (2009-08-02 15:48:14):

To change the current extension to these ones, open windows explorer(My computer for example) then click Tools -> Folder Options... -> File Types Tab -> Scroll to the Extention you wish to change and click Advanced -> Change Icon... And im sure you know what to do from here! :-D

sixλxis (2009-08-02 19:26:17):

if it says Restore when you select the extention you will have to restore the extentions default program that it is opened with.

Vlasta (2009-08-02 19:48:29):

How can you set it so that all the files of one format have the same icon?

sixλxis (2010-09-12 04:43:10):

You have to do that manually.

sixλxis (2010-11-24 17:10:46):

I have no idea how to set these in Windows 7, but I know how to in Windows XP.

sixλxis (2011-04-08 06:24:03):

Rainbow Dash: So Awesome!

Those icons are very, very good. A (I'm insisting:) very, very good alternative for the default icons. I don't know what other (common) extension suggest, as there are not much, but uncommon especialized extensions do really exist and they would give you a lot of work. If you want some suggestions…
(I'm also describing them so you can add a pertinent picture to the graphic)

  • INI: A type of TXT, but used for text configuration.
  • DAT, BIN, DLL: Some types of data application extensions.
  • EXE: For those applications whose don't have a own icon.
  • RLI, RCU: You forgot those?
  • AVI: A type of video format.
  • TIFF (or TFF): A image format.
  • EMF: A image format.
  • MIDI: A looping instrumental-based sound format.
  • TTF: A text font format.

There are some other formats that I can suggest now, but they're rare and not often found, but may come handy knowing…

  • BRSTM: A looping sound format, for icon-image/984-16x16x32.png image Wii games.
  • STRM: A looping sound format, for icon-image/1004-16x16x32.png image Nintendo DS games.
  • U3D: Unless you have installed Real World Thumbnails, you'll probably need an icon for U3D.

Hope that those suggestions were helping you to upgrade this set.

Note: Can you answer Annonymous' answer somewhere here, so we can all change our icons?

It is possible to change the icon associated with some file types and I found some directions for such here (about 1/3 the way down page):
