WWII Aviation

Published on October 1st 2006 by: 8-Bit

This is a set of WWII warbirds, all static. In fact, this have-to-have set contains almost every famous WWII warbid that exists to date! Although very few are still in flyable condition.

Cursor properties Description
B-25 Mitchell.ani (4.3 kB)
Animated cursor with 1 frame(s)   ID:314
An all-american WWII bomber, the Mitchell is one of my favorite aircraft.
AT-6 Texan.ani (4.3 kB)
Animated cursor with 1 frame(s)   ID:315
The AT-6 Texan was only widley used in in the later years of WWII (1944-5). It was one of the main fighters in the fight against the Japanese.
Avro Lancaster.ani (4.3 kB)
Animated cursor with 1 frame(s)   ID:316
This is my overall favorite aircraft. One of the main British bombers, the Lancaster played a huge part in the famous dambusting operation; Operation Chastise.
B-29 Superfortress.ani (4.3 kB)
Animated cursor with 1 frame(s)   ID:318
This is one huge plane. In more ways than one. The Boeing B-29 Superfortress—other than its massive size—was the aircraft that dropped the two atom bombs on Kakashaki and Heroshima.
F4U Corsair.ani (4.3 kB)
Animated cursor with 1 frame(s)   ID:319
This is my Father's favorite aircraft. Mainly used bythe Navy, this seabird was rarely seen fighting in WWII.
Heinkel He111.ani (4.3 kB)
Animated cursor with 1 frame(s)   ID:320
This is the first German aircraft I have made. It was widley used in the Battle for Brittian (1940-1944) to take down cities and airports. In fact, this is one of the 100+ He111's that bombed London in 1942.
Ju-87 Stuka.ani (4.3 kB)
Animated cursor with 1 frame(s)   ID:321
Another German aircraft, the Stuka was a dive bomber...a good one. It was used in group of about 6 to a dozen count to take down small targets, such as boats or radar stations.
Messerschmitt Bf109E.ani (4.3 kB)
Animated cursor with 1 frame(s)   ID:322
I don't think this one is spelt right... The Bf109E was like the German version of a Spitfire. It was fast, nimble, and a hard target.
P-51 Mustang.ani (4.3 kB)
Animated cursor with 1 frame(s)   ID:323
Origionated in America as a prototype, the P-51 Mustang was shipped over to Great Britian in the dozens to help with the fight.
Spitfire Mk Ix.ani (4.3 kB)
Animated cursor with 1 frame(s)   ID:324
The Spitfire, one of the few aircraft used in the Battle of Britian that were actually produced by the British. Its early stages were numbered, but it got alot better over the years. It was the only fighter to have 6 different types!
P-38 Lightning.ani (4.3 kB)
Animated cursor with 1 frame(s)   ID:325
Another one of my favorites. When you look at this, you probably think its a bomber, right? Well, no, it's a fighter that was used in our part of WWII.
Mitsubishi G4M3 'Betty'.ani (4.3 kB)
Animated cursor with 1 frame(s)   ID:326
Its true name was confusing when heard, so the U.S. gave it the name 'betty'. This Japanese bomber was one of the two types of Aircraft that bombed Pearl Harbour, getting the U.S. involved in the war.
Mitsubishi A6M 'Zero'.ani (4.3 kB)
Animated cursor with 1 frame(s)   ID:327
The A6M...or 'zero' as we call it, was another Japanese fighter. It was one of the only Japanese fighters used in WWII.

Wraith73 (2008-04-09): Have you any clue? The comment "The Spitfire, one of the few aircraft used in the Battle of Britian that were actually produced by the British" There only were two aircraft involved in the BOB and it was the spitfire and hurricane! Both produced by britain. The hurricane accounted for a lot more german aircraft shot down during this time. The mustang was ordered by britain in 1942 two years after the Battle of britain due to a fear that aircraft could not be produced in great enough numbers. The later marks of spitfire outclassed the early mustangs so only a few were ever used. The early mustang suffered from having the american allison engine which was replaced by a british Rolls Royce merlin engine (Used in the spitfire and hurricane) that set the performance standard. The latter Griffin engine 10 litres more than the merlin set the spitfire way out in front of anything the US could produce! Get your facts right!
