How to become a Contributing User

Since people PM me about this all the time, I decided to write a blog post about it.

What a Contributing User is

The role of CU adds some minor admin rights, like for example the ability to create new tags, and the ability to approve User Icons*
>If you are a contributing user this page will also contain a list of User Icons waiting approval.

How to become a Contributing User

By contributing to the web site in some unexpected way, but there are no hard rules. Basically, if you find an area where the web site could use some improvement and try to make it better, that counts. (This does not mean spamming the admin with improvement ideas)

Ultimately Vlasta, the site admin, makes the decision on who and why a person may be eligible for such a status upgrade.

Examples
>JDDellGuy has organized contests, created a video tutorial and wrote a page on giving proper feedback when rating sets. It is indirectly due to him that buttons exist.

>I, SYNTHCRO, started the Theme of the Month contest, and was in charge of it for several months, however I reached a point when I was no longer unable to devote the proper amount of time to it, so cdl took over for me.

>CDL has been managing and running the Theme of the Month contest since July 2013. She has also contributed over a hundred Card Creator frames and various Icon Assembler sets.

*sometimes when the website is updated, these abilities disappear for variable amounts of time. Don't worry about it just PM Vlasta if you are concerned.

Thank you for the honorable mention Synthcro.

I contributed to the website in other ways in addition to taking over management of the TOTM Contest and believe that was instrumental in the decision that allowed my status change to Contributing User.

I also created and contributed over a hundred Card Creator frames and various Icon Assembler sets (17 so far). You must make a worthy contribution that improves the website in order to be considered eligible for the status upgrade.

Ultimately Vlasta makes the decision on who and why a person may be eligible for such a status upgrade.

I have never used the minor admin ability to create new tags and forgot about approving user icons completely.
Sorry for that, I will try to do better.

Thank you for the info, I have updated the post.

Also, I've only ever created one or two tags. It isn't something that has to be done very often. The way I see it, unless you can find ten or more set that are all similar, but don't have a tag that is applicable, then you create one.

As far as approving User Icons, well I've been gone for awhile, so I haven't done much of that either. If I can figure out how to do it again, I will definitely get back to it.
