Name Colors & Glows

Published by on November 29th.

Before anyone asks... yes, I've seen young Dungster's latest bragging spree about "modernizing" the 15 Puzzle. Grand. Lovely. What else to expect from a leprechaun? But enough about that. I've got actual important updates for the discerning customers among you, improvements to how you can customize your name on the site.

As many of you know, I trade in spray paints and the black flashlights, the finest tools for making your username stand out with dignity (or chaos, depending on your taste). Recently, the way these items work has begun a series of updates and more may follow.

The first change: sprays are now optimized for different backgrounds. Previously, a spray simply turned your name into that exact color, even if it made your name very hard to read on a dark or bright background. (Looking at you, "black-on-black" enthusiasts.) Now, colors will subtly adjust to stay visible. For example, the black spray on a dark background will shift to a clean grey so it can still be read without squinting. It's still your chosen color, but usable.

Second, the black-light flashlight got its own refinement. It used to slap a cyan glow on every name, no matter what color you had painted yourself. Effective, sure, but a bit samey. Now the glow matches your spray color, and in some cases even tweaks the color itself to create a better luminous effect. Some combinations produce lovely results, others are, well... unique. But that's half the fun, isn't it? Don't forget to press CTRL+F5 to see the new effects properly.

Anyway, that's the news from someone actually keeping the place running. Feel free to experiment in your workshop. And if young Dungster is reading this: congratulations on your new buttons and beep-boops. Some of us are actually doing the important work.

Thank you for these changes I now feel like I can use my black flashlight regardless of what Colour spray-paint I'm using and it will still look good.

I love this change! Name tags do look nicer with this update, rather than just the cyan glow. I will miss the cyan glow, though, since it had its charm.
